Nick Schoon is Bioregional’s policy and communications manager in the external affairs and communications team.

He works on sharing the organisation’s knowledge and good practice with key audiences including the media, policy makers and business.

Nick is a former environment correspondent of The Independent newspaper and edited the ENDS Report, a UK-based journal and website for environmental professionals, for nearly five years before joining Bioregional. He was also a policy analyst for the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution for a couple of years and served as communications director of the Campaign to Protect Rural England for more than five years. Nick has a zoology degree from Oxford University and began his career as a reporter on local newspapers in Reading and Bristol.  He has had two books published, on biodiversity in the UK and urban regeneration, and is a solar smallholder with a 2.5kW photovoltaic array.
